AN ACT CONCERNING PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY POLICE PENSION PLAN for the purpose of approving by legislative act an amendment to the Police Pension Plan regarding the change in the normal retirement date.
Background
This legislation is required to comply with Section 16-231(a) of the Prince George's County Code which provides that any amendment to a pension plan that lessens the benefits provided in the Prince George's County Police Pension Plan or binds the County to finance or make contributions, must be approved by a legislative act of the County Council.
This legislation will amend the Prince George's County Police Pension Plan to change the definition of normal retirement date and this legislation will also add a section defining deaths that occur in the “line of duty” on or before November 30, 2002.
NOTE: CB-020-2016 is retroactively effective to July 1, 2015.
