Title
A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE PUBLIC FACILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION AND MOBILITY ELEMENTS OF THE PRELIMINARY ADELPHI ROAD-UMGC-UMD PURPLE LINE STATION AREA SECTOR PLAN for the purpose of identifying inconsistencies between the Preliminary Adelphi Road-UMGC-UMD Purple Line Station Area Sector Plan and existing or proposed State or County facilities, and approving the inclusion of any new public facility proposals prior to the adoption of the sector plan by the Prince George’s County Planning Board of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
Background
As required by Title 21, Land Use Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, Section 27-645(b)(1) of the County Code requires the Prince George’s County Planning Board to submit its proposals for public facilities in the sector plan to the County Executive and the County Council for identifying any inconsistencies between the preliminary sector plan and existing or proposed State or County public facilities, including transportation improvements, and in the event of any inconsistences the District Council shall direct the Planning Board on how the inconsistencies shall be eliminated or accommodated within the sector plan. Here, recommendations of the Public Facilities and Transportation and Mobility Elements within the preliminary sector plan were transmitted for comments by the Executive Branch of County Government on October 29, 2021. Upon review of the respective proposals, and by letter in response dated January 14, 2022, the Executive Branch submitted their comments as to the proposed public facilities and transportation elements on the plan, and identified no inconsistencies between existing and proposed facilities. Accordingly, this Resolution reflects the Council’s acknowledgement of that determination by the Executive Branch, and approves the inclusion of same for consideration and action by the Planning Board in April 2022.
