Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING STATEWIDE PAID SICK AND SAFE LEAVE for the purpose of endorsing a Statewide Paid Sick and Safe Leave Requirement.

Background

The Maryland General Assembly has introduced earned sick and safe leave legislation during prior sessions in 2013, 2014 and 2015 requiring employers with more than nine employees to have a sick and safe leave policy under which an employee of the employer earns at least 1 hour of paid sick and safe leave, at the same rate and with the same benefits as the employee normally earns, for every 30 hours an employee works.  The proposed legislation endorses the enactment of a Statewide Paid Sick and Safe Leave Law in the 2016 General Assembly session.
