Title

AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING COUNTYWIDE MAP AMENDMENTS for the purpose of establishing procedures to reclassify all real property in the Planning Areas of Prince George’s County, Maryland through the comprehensive amendment of the Zoning Map.

Background

Before the County can begin using the new Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations that are under development, the District Council will need to rezone all properties in the County to the new zones that are incorporated in the new Zoning Ordinance. To do so in an efficient, effective, and timely manner, a dedicated comprehensive rezoning process is necessary. This bill establishes procedures for a Countywide (zoning) Map Amendment.

**NOTE:  In light of the Council’s action to enact related legislation, CB-013-2018 and CB-015-2018 and, in light of the tolled effective dates specified therein, the provisions set forth within Section 3 of this Ordinance obviates the need for immediate effective date. Accordingly, this Ordinance shall take effect as set forth in the Rule 16(b) of the County Council Rules of Procedure.
