Title

A RESOLUTION CONCERNING EAST RIVERDALE AND BEACON HEIGHTS SECTOR PLAN for the purpose of initiating a new East Riverdale and Beacon Heights Sector Plan for the area of Prince George’s County that includes portions of Planning Areas 68 and 69, and approving Goals, Concepts, Guidelines, and a Public Participation Program for the project, as well as a five-month extension to prepare the sector plan.

Background

This Resolution will direct Planning Board staff of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission to initiation a new preliminary East Riverdale and Beacon Heights Sector Plan in order to align outdated policies within existing comprehensive plans with the most to current land use and development policies for Established Communities and associated corridor nodes within the boundaries of the proposed plan area.  In addition, as required by Sections 27-225.01.05 and 27-641 of the Zoning Ordinance, this Resolution reflects the Council’s approval of proposed Goals, Concepts, Guidelines, and Public Participation Program that will guide staff in the preparation of the preliminary sector plan, and approve a five-month extension for preparation of the preliminary sector plan.
